Excellent service by the staff here, friendly and polite. The taste of the dishes were unique and mostly Thai fusion. The green curry gravy was really thick and not too spicy. Fried crab rice is really nice and not too oily. The mix plater is recommended for 2 pax sharing for smaller portion. Overall medium portion and dishes were not too spicy. The green mussel cooked in onion, leaves and chilli is really tasty. Good dining environment but the price is slightly higher.
Excellent Thai restaurant in town. Their portion is medium size with very affordable price. Food is so delicious and authentic Thai tastes. Google map showing a bit tricky route to go. You can have easier route to access the place with some public parking lot available outside. Will comeback here for more good food
The food are undeniably delicious and authentic but the service could do better. We arrived during the reservation time to be informed that our names are not in the list and the staff even asked us to check upstairs. Meanwhile, our friend was already at his seat seat. That aside, the food worth 2 thumbs up and the crowd is huge. Best to call for reservation. We would like to try for their signature crab meat dishes but were informed that the crab meat dishes were sold out too. Therefore, would be great if you call them up for dishes reservation to avoid disappointment.
Love the food here! Som Tum was really spicy and addictive, shiok! Other dishes were delicious too, did not take picture on the Pandan leaf wrapped chicken - crunchy on the outside, soft & succulent inside, oozing with tons of herbs! Must order!Cool off the heat with some ice coconut milk dessert. Perfect.
Overall experience is good.Fried chicken:5/5.Crispy and I like the Thai sauce.Garlic potato leaf:5/5The dish is garlicful and for someone who loves garlic like me will definitely like this dish.Tomyam seafood:4/5Tomyam is refreshing with a sufficient amount of spice. The only thing that I would love to have is more soup~~~~Prawn mantis salted egg:2/5The dressing is not crispy at all. It will be much crispier if using the same dressing as fried chicken. Prawn mantis is not fresh.Dessert4/5Everything is good, the taste is good except the portion is small.
I made my first visit there two days ago. This is clearly the most authentic Thai restaurant in Malaysia as far as I am concerned. Every dish was a pleasant surprise and tasted very good. The restaurant was also clean and well decorated. The lone waiter was responsive and friendly (we were there at its lunch time opening). Parking will always be limited inside the city centre but there is a public car park along Jalan Kampung Malabar nearby. My lunch experience was very satisfying and I will certainly go back there again.
surprisingly the food is tasty.authentic thai food.the food is quite fastenvironment is not so nice tho.price is abit high thowill come back to take away next time.Food: 4.5/5Service: 4/5Price: $$Atmosphere: 2.5/5
Perfect red curry chicken. Very authentic. Will come back here to try more food
Very good Thai food. Tomyum was spicy and fragrant. The red curry chicken was very good and the mango salad was excellent. Highly recommended.
Great hospitality by Mr.Daniel. Food is good. Our regular Thai Food outlet was closed. So we decided to try it out at Wang Thai. No regrets, now another good Thai Food loc.
I heard any great things about Wang Thai and came here during the Mother's day weekend. We were greeted by a nice gentleman even though we did not make RSVP. He managed to squeeze us in during the busy weekend. The menu was easy to navigate with colorful details. With regard to the food. They were surprised, as authentic as I can remember when I was in Bangkok. Great flavor and spicy. Absolutely delicious. We had a wonderful mother's day dinner here and looking to come back in the near future.
Mar.14 2022 Lunch set with reasonable price, cozy environment. Food taste good, personally I like less salty, so can reduce the strong taste. It goes with a drink.Mar.20 2022 Dinner: Pawn cake is crispy and tasty. Pai thai is delicious with some raw beans sprouts on the side, I like it. Chicken feet salad is great, a bit spicy. Mango sticky rice as dessert, sticky rice is a bit hard, can cook longer. Overall is good.
Overall all is ok....Food was nice.....Drinks little but too sweet....(for me )Parking able to park in front of the shop ....
One of the best Thai food ever tried. The steam fish is amazing, others like tomyam, fried kangkung and fried sotong are good too. Authentic and price is reasonable. So good that we went two days in a row.
The service overall is good. The tomyum is milky and delicious I give 5 star. The otak coconut still ok.The pork leg rice portion is big but the taste not really nice, too sweet and the pork leg very hard to Chew. The somtum not enough taste. The drinks are cheap and not too sweet i like it.
Cheap and have assorted choice of steambot dishes....but would be much better if it was buffet style👍🏻
Cheap price, rm 20 can eat alot already, service good also, definitely will go again
Nice place to dine in, good service and food is served quickly! The taste is pretty good and l authentic, quite similar to what you'll get in Thailand! The price is standard Cafe price. Highly recommended
I read about this small little Thai restaurant from the web. They won a Royal Thai award for the 2nd time and their food reflects their achievements. Dropped by to taste their signature boat noodles (dry), Tom yum noodle and also the moobing rice dish. I would say it is one of the most authentic Thai food around Penang and it is good. Their Tom yum soup is not from those mama noodle flavor but they added their own ingredients which gives a less spicy and sweeter side of it. It is good. Boat noodle is also very unique and could only say it is really Thai based. Lastly, please do wash it all down with their ice Thai and green tea. It is very really nice. Do try it. 👍
Authentic Thai restaurants with cozy environment and friendly staff crews. Food taste above average recommended pandan pork and phat kraprao pork. Will visit again for my next penang trip.
First time eating here. The decor is giving a thai feel. We just had 2 dishes but overall the taste is quite good.
A small Thai restaurant with kinda pricey authentic Thai food. The price to our order are as below:Hot Lemongrass RM3.00Hot Soyamilk RM4.00Rice RM2.00Kailan salty fish RM20.00Pandan boneless chicken RM30.00Phat Kraprao pork RM18.00Taste wise is ok.
Very delicious, reasonable price and i can confirm the cheapest price so far compared to other to tomyam food place in Penang. Very fast service,.overall above satisfactory..Highly recommended
Staff are helpful. Although a bit crowded perhaps it's school holidays, we still managed to find a table.
Had a simple, but tasty home cooked meal. I liked the pad Thai and Thai-styled Kang Kong. The Green curry is a winner. Very affordable.
Nice friendly Thai couple running this place. Been visiting every time wanted some Thai food.
Everytime just take away, finally have chance to dine in Staff friendliness: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 (Satisfied) Otak not my preference, as santan taste quite thick. Parking: A lot of outdoor free parking space. Need to use umbrella if it's raining, no roofed walk way till restaurant entrance
Love the food and ambience. It didn't feel warm even during noon time. We had miang kham, fried calamari, green curry chicken, pandan chicken, sambal asparagus and tomyam chicken. All the dishes were delicious. Prices were reasonable.
Worth the flight from TORONTO! We happened upon Them Xim Charcoal Mookata tonight on a stroll from our hotel. The restaurant is clean and modern and it caught our eye. We had no idea that the attractive appearance, would pale in comparison the the phenomenal food and exceptional service. The staff are friendly and attentive, offering menu advice and an explanation of the at-table cooking process. Chiang (Thai) beer is available and is the perfect accompaniment with dinner. As an added surprise... just when you thought your dining experience was done… ICE CREAM! (I recommend the black glutenous rice)
Superb experience for Mookata! Everything was beyond excellence! Clean and cozy environment, friendly staffs, fresh ingredients, no MSG yet delicious soup, self made perfect pairing dipping sauces. Make sure you make reservations as dinner can be full house. Hopefully the quality of food and services can be maintained. Will definitely revisit again!
Price reasonable , food still acceptable for me ~
Good! The minced meat original is excellent! The prawn ball is fresh and super good! The service is good! The staff always take care of your! Good! Must share
Chang Thai Restaurant is authentic Thai food, The environment is quite spacious and the space is large ,sit quite comfortably. There are a lot of selectivity in Menu, almost all the Thai delicacies commonly seen here and thai drinks and desserts are also available in list . The Menus includes traditional Dongyan soup, steamed citrus, Thai spicy stir-fried clams, casserole winter powder braised shrimp, golden cream chicken, green curry (chicken/pig), citronella water, Thai green tea, Thai black tea, longan lemon fairy grass, etc. Overall : Good service with friendly staff and tasty Thai food plus clean environment are the attractions for us to enjoy our meals here. Great hospitality and attentive service. Ambience is nice, limited seating though. Food is more to local taste, dialed down spiciness, not really authentic Thai. Price is on the high side, though it's considered reasonable at this locale.
Food is good. Location is hard to find parking . This place is mainly visited by locals . It's owned by Thai . Love the ambiance. Pls note they only accept cash. It's a small space to dine if it rains but if it's not raining , there is more seat behind the shop . A hidden gem it is
They serve very nice thai food with reasonable pricing except for the pork neck grill. That was slightly on the high side. Otherwise ambience is nice and good place to chill. The shop have some sort of hidden gem kind of feel
Portion is quite big. My favourite dish is their tom yum soup. Otak2 is a bit oily for me.
This was a disappointing experience for me, after an amazing day at Penang island. As soon as I walked in, it felt like a chaotic environment, but I decided to give it a try as it was late. The service was very poor. Staff did not seem friendly or attentive. They seemed to be in a rush and under a lot of stress. There were very few vegetarian options available. All I could really eat was plain rice and fried kangkung. There wasn’t much flavour to it, so I requested soy sauce, but they didn’t have any. So they recommended sweet chilli sauce instead, but they never returned with it. This is the first time I have been to a Thai restaurant that didn’t serve vegetable spring rolls or soy sauce and I have visited hundreds of Thai restaurants. Overall, I was very disappointed with the service, food and atmosphere of this restaurant.
Small and clean place. Very good authentic Thai food and cheap.
1st time visit this store recommended by friends, order tomyam Maggie Soup, taste good for me and will visit again to try other thai food.
This fish was spilled to the table when serve. They say they gonna replace a new one for us but ended up, just scooped back the fish with all the vege and turn over than served. When we asked the owner, he just mentioned he doesn't know that the worker did that. The owner was so dishonest. The steam fish is for 5 children aged 4 to 9. We even served with half u wash cauliflower. Does he think we bring our own knife to cut?
One of nice Thai Cuisine in Penang. Food is tasty and delicous. Almost same with Thai taste. Price is reasonable and acceptable.
A quick visit to these Thai restaurants will leave your taste buds satisfied! These establishments offer a yummy selection of dishes, such as Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong, which are sweet, sour and simply divine.
